The Brooks Ghost 5 was awarded an 'Editor's Choice' in the fall 2012 Shoe Guide from Runner's World magazine. Runner’s World described the Ghost 5 as 'a versatile shoe that can handle whatever workouts you throw at it' and noted that the Ghost 'remains fairly lightweight with a soft heel and relatively firm forefoot, which gives wearers a fast feel.' It provides enhanced cushioning for neutral and underpronators. The full-length midsole compound utilizes an insole board for enhanced cushioning and flexibility. Brooks says 'the Ghost 5 is so supremely smooth and impeccably balanced, it’s scary.'

Awesome. Comfortable from the first run. Great cushioning. (I do have flat feet, so I do use my own orthotics.) But these shoes are really great.

I loved my new women's Ghost so much that I ordered a pair for my husband. He loves them as much as I do. Brooks are pricey but worth every penny for this style! Thanks Zappos for always providing 5 star service!

I am a long time (since mid 80s) Asics runner, with a moderately high arch. In the past couple of years, I've become disenchanted with their Cumulus and Nimbus models. Most recently I purchased a pair of Gel Kayanos hoping more dollars would mean more satisfaction on my part. After putting in a pair of orthotics that I had not worn in years, just to get them so I could wear them more than a couple of hours, they are now my walking shoes. When I saw the Runners World Editor's pick on the Brooks Ghost 5s, I decided to give them a try. Wow, I love them. I normally wear the 4E Asics and the Brooks only came in 2E, so I was a little worried they wouldn't be wide enough. The Zappos customer support person said the Ghost toe box runs a little wide, and they turned out to be just fine. Note to Brooks: Please don't change a thing, You have a moderately priced shoe that is wonderful, with great cushioning and arch support. Asics makes the mistake of tweaking their shoes seemingly every year so can not count on the model you like this year being the same shoe the following year. Talked my wife into a pair of Ghost 5s as well, and she is just as enthused about them as I am. Kudos to Brooks!

Great shoes...a lifesaver. I wear the 11 2e's and they work very well on my wide feet. I don't know how Brooks does it, but these shoes ride like a dream. Zappos was beyond great in my first transaction with them. They really went above and beyond.

I purchased these shoes because I heard that they had great arch support, true to the reviews they did! I love these shoes!

I received my Brooks Ghost 5s yesterday, and am very pleased with them. They are a lighter, and somewhat less supportive shoe than I normally purchase (Brooks Beast, Asics Kayano). Having said that, I had a good run today, and found the Ghosts to be an experience in comfort. The toe box feels like a second skin, and each strike of my heel on the pavement was painless, if not less cushy than my previous shoes. The Ghosts are fabulous for walking too; extremely comfortable and airy. The yellow and blue color (Empire) looks cool with blue jeans. Will I return to my stability control shoes? That's still up for grabs. So far, I couldn't be happier with my Ghost purchase (after all, with a name like "Ghost," who knows what might lurk within those soles)? Finally, I ordered my shoes from Zappos (thanks, Sarah) late Tuesday evening by phone, and they arrived at my door the following day (Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m. Thanks, Zappos.

I recently bought the Brooks Ghost 5 from Zappos and, as usual with Zappos, everything went swiftly and smoothly. I had already bought the Brooks 5 from a retail store and loved them, but when I went to get a back-up pair in a different color, the store did not carry it. I went online to Zappos, ordered it in a few minutes and it arrived in no time. I have ordered several times in the past from Zappos and -- in only one occasion -- did I decide to return the product. It was no fault of Zappos. In that case they accepted return right away and made it painless and simple and were very courteous. I took the time to write this review because there is no question in my mind that this company is "driven by service" -- the creed they print on the shoebox. I love my Brooks Ghost 5s -- lighter than previous Brooks I've worn (the Beast, the Addiction, Adrenaline) and I am happy to recommend Zappos as well -- a company that I will continue using, because I gave them a try and they have earned my business for life.

I have crazy-high arches and supinate and these are the best workout shoes for that foot type that I've found in recent years. The instep/heel fit is comfortably snug, the toebox is roomy, the arch support is good, the cushioning is substantial without just feeling mushy, and they're lightweight. I used to buy Nike Air Pegasus, but they've changed their cut a bit and now these are my new favorites!

I bought these shoes a month ago and love them. I'm on my feet all day long. To me they run on the small side so get a half size bigger. I also bought the Mizuno Wave Ascend 7. That shoe is good too, but I really like the Brooks Ghost 5 for comfort. Now I'm coming back for a second pair of Brooks Ghost 5. I look forward to getting the shoes and wearing them right away. You don't have to wait to get used to them, it's like you already had the shoes in your closet, and the customer service is fantastic. I haven't been disappointed yet.

A wonderful running shoe. After many miles logged on these, they are one of the best shoe for joint pain. There is excellent support without being to heavy.

I have had these shoes for three months and am finally giving up on them. Like another review I also feel something hard under the front of the shoe. I was hoping over time they would break in and get more comfortable but it is just not happening. Overall the cushioning seems non-existent. My previous shoes were Sauconys and I plan to switch back. Considering all the great reviews and "Editor's Choice" I really had high hopes.

Love these shoes. I've run twice in them including one 5K and they're phenomenal. Perfect cushioning and they're pretty light as well. Possible my only critique is that my other regular running shoes, the Saucony Guide 5, feels more stable but that won't deter me from wearing them regularly. To me the ultimate mark of a comfortable running shoe is not having to take them off shortly after a run. These definitely pass that test with flying colors.

These shoes ROCK! Light and breathable, with a short break in period. For me 1/2 a day. I don't run in them (knee), but they make both my knee and lower back feel great. I would Highly recommend these shoes!

Phenomenal shoes! These are an upgrade from some low end New Balance shoes and they are a huge improvement. I no longer finish my run with aches and pains in my feet and ankles. They have great arch support, great cushion and a slick look. I recommend these to anyone looking for a comfortable, quality running shoe. Will buy Brooks again.

I have been debating how to write this review. I either rave about the shoes and let the world know what a truly awesome product this is or l completely trash the shoes in the review so no one will want the product. To be selfless or selfish is the debate. If I pick selfless and let the world know how great the shoes are, then likely the shoes will sell out and never be on sale. If I chose selfish, no one will want the shoes and I can pick up six pairs on clearance in a few months. They are incredibly comfortable and light, I feel like I can run faster and longer. This is my favorite pair of running shoes ever! Selfless feels good! Enjoy!

I had worn through my Ghost 4s, which I loved and needed new shoes badly. I received these on the 24th and got out for an Xmas run yesterday. Great shoe. I had issues with the size of the toe box on the Ghost 4. It appears that they increased the amount of room both to the toe and laterally so that my foot was extremely comfortable once I was able to gauge the proper tension for the laces. in other words, no more black toenails. The only complaint I had was that the padding under the forefoot was a little stiff. I am hoping that breaks in a bit as time passes.

Extremely comfortable. I wear them to work, where I stand and move about a lot. I have arthritis and need the cushioning. They are the best and most comfortable shoe I have worn and I have tried some of the best -- other Brooks shoes, Asics, and Nike.

I have been a Nike running shoe guy for a long time. I had read a review on the Ghost 5 in Runners World and decided to try give it a shot. I have about 20 miles logged on these shoes so far. They are comfortable and I feel like they absorb impact well. Comfortable ride.

I've put about 50 miles on these so far, including one race, and they're fantastic! I needed some decent cushioning, since I underpronate. The cushioning is great. I'd buy these again.I liked my previous Pumas, but I love these. Bonus points for coming in yellow and blue.

I am a 2E width, with a high arch. The Brooks Ghost 5 was one of the shoes recommended. It is the best fit I have ever had. I found them true to size. As usual. Zappos was great.

I have a high arch and was wearing orthotic inserts in my other shoes doe to plantar fasciitis. These shoes have enough arch support that I don't need the inserts. They are very comfortable, but during a recent 15K I did notice my toes getting numb due toward the end... likely due to them not having quite enough cushioning under the ball and toe area. I'm not big on the yellow and blue coloring, and that was the only color available in my size when I bought them. Otherwise, they are a great shoe and I'm very happy to not have to wear the arch support inserts. Not only does this save a significant amount of money to not have to by inserts each time, but also more comfortable.

Great shoe. I've been moving among Asics and Brooks and NB for several years and when I found Ghost 4 I realized I'd found the shoe for me. Approximately 5'9, 145 - average about 20/wk when not race training. Using these to get ready for February marathon.

I am 5'9" 180 pounds and run about 500 miles per year, 80 percent on treadmill and 20 percent outside, 3 miles per run about four times per week, and I have a neutral/slightly supinate stride. I replace my shoes every year. My last two pairs have been Mizuno Wave Rider 13 & 14. I was going to get MWR15, but the sales guy at my local running store recommended these Brooks Ghost 5 because the fabric breathes better. The length size is same as the Mizuno, but the toe box is wider in these Brooks. I bought them online from Zappos because I liked the yellow color, which was not available in the store. I have fairly narrow feet and believe the Mizunos fit my feet a little better, but I have no complaints with these Brooks and love the yellow color. I recommend these for guys with neutral stride whose feet are slightly too narrow for Mizuno.

I have jacked up feet (broken sesamoid bones in each foot) and these are great shoes. I went from Asics Gel Nimbus to the Brooks Glycerins. I got awful shin splints. I switched to the Ghosts and they have been perfect. They fit really well. They provide great cushioning.

Love, love this shoe. Right out of the box I wore this shoe for four straight days at Disneyland...no tired feet, just happy feet. I am a woman and I order the mens shoes because the width fits me better. I have a bad knee and back and during the entire four days of walking for 10-12 hours a day at Disneyland, no knee or back pain. I'm ordering a second pair of these gems.
